I pray that you are all healthy and avoiding the virus?

On to business... the UK is in "lockdown" which makes sense to me and as a solo gamer makes very little difference... work will continue as will my hobby though disaster has struck on the figure front.

As I am sure you have all experienced I wanted to paint a period that I had no figures for! Usually I do not watch TV but I am now on the third series of Narcos and to my shame I am thoroughly enjoying it! So having sold my modern figures I have ordered a few more from Empress... will they arrive before I return to work?

I do have clear outs of figures and have no regrets as my painting moves on and well I enjoy painting! One thing I will not be clearing out is the second edition of Spectre Miniatures modern ruleset. Over the last few days I have been reading this manual and with the handful of figures that I still possess trying to work out the rules-great fun.

So with a 3 foot square board and plenty of time for two weeks I am left with a dozen figures and about 50 zombies. What will you guys be getting up to?

Stay safe and enjoy the ride.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2488435269202129623.post-84593086150640437142020-03-08T13:40:00.001-07:002020-03-08T13:40:34.227-07:00Sick just in time for the weekend.... typicalHi Chaps,

Well the weekend finally arrived only for the cold I had been valiantly fighting all week to cut me down for the last two days! Obviously this is a case of man flu and its to the death but I did still manage to start some figures. I purchased an Ogre by Reaper which on the packaging in forms one not to use a spray undercoat... indeed no undercoat at all. During painting I felt that the paint was running away from crevices and not covering as it should. Still after a few coats it did seem to work and I am now the proud owner of an Ogre for the princely sum of £6.70 delivered.

The Tau are time consuming to paint and a bit repetitive but once done I can tick them off the miniature bucket list.

Well I hope that your weekend was more fun than mine Guys and Gals (ugh that sounds too much like Jimmy Saville! Ugh).

Keep Blogging Chaps.

Of course the above should read Tao, it's a lazy play on words but I was at work before 6 and its a Monday...

I have long wanted to paint the Tau miniatures from Games Workshop and attempted them once before but this time its going to be a proper attempt. Who knows this may be the start of something beautiful between myself and 40K? The other day I downloaded the Battle Primer from the Games Workshop website and it does look a lot more user friendly... we shall see.

Blogger has started to delete things after I attempt to put a pic on it which has been driving me nuts so I may even move over to a paid for site where I can have a little more control and a few more features...

Please find below a pic of the new toys and my ancient Codex for the Tau...

I have just completed the last of a box of zombies from the Zombicide board game, having never played the game I have no idea if it is any good but I can confirm that the zombie figures are well detailed and fun to paint. Please forgive the somewhat slanted pic...

A white undercoat and a few quick base coats then a couple of different washes then highlight. Quick and simple which is handy because zombie games require a LOT of undead. The best zombie rules that I have come across were free on the net by Akula "Nightmare on froth street" I do wonder if they made it into print as they are excellent?

The buildings behind the figures are being put together a little at a time each day after work and I am now at the "first fix" stage of adding door and window frames. A few more are in the planning stage and will be a little more elaborate.... I coat the buildings with a mix of PVA and poundland filler-it dries rock hard and gives strength to the foamboard but needs sanding before painting.

Have a good week Chaps and keep blogging!

I was rummaging around my bits boxes-I have a lot of those as I am sure most war gamers do when I came across a rather worn looking model car. My late father had given me the car many years ago and it has survived three house moves and lived for a decade out in a shed! So I decided to do something with a shabby but (to me) valuable little keep sake.

I drilled out all the rivets holding the model together and stripped the metal parts using boiling water and caustic soda crystals. This is pretty horrible stuff so one has to be careful with it.

During this process I managed to lose the steering wheel and the spare tyre-I blame shift work and no time. I moulded a new tyre using greenstuff and Omiroyu (not sure how its spelt) and will source a new steering wheel at some point, probably by taking something off another model.

Some parts were undercoated black and the body was done in white... then onto the best bit of painting and adding little details. The canopy was always missing so greenstuff was shaped into a roll behind the driver.

So the model is now complete and is ready for service maybe in the Back of Beyond, VBCW or something similar. I am pretty pleased with the end result and will plop it onto a warbase mdf base at some point. This won't be the last vehicle as I was given a box full of Lledo/Yesteryear vehicles... 1930's technicals may have to be built with a few of them!

I have had the best weekend in months and it has consisted of painting miniatures, watching youtube about painting miniatures and beer. Perfect. Almost.

Taking pictures of my minis is starting to drive me nuts. Even using my wifes iPhone with two lamps still produces pants pics.. maybe I am too far away? Anyway if anyone has any tips or can recommend a midi camera to purchase I am all beers..... sorry ears.

Here is what was completed this weekend, 10 chainrasp (guys in bedsheets) 4 mymourn banshees and a handful of zombies from coolminornot.

We all experience a busy life and I find it hard to put aside some time for our hobby but this week I deliberately set aside 30-40 minutes after work in an attempt to see what could be done. I have no big plans in mind but I have been inspired by posts on the Lead Adventure Forum (a great site) and so had a go at some colonial Brits.

Mistakes have been made and the first mistake was a black undercoat! Vallejo Khaki grey 880 does not cover black! So I was slowed by having to paint 3 thin coats to even start covering the base coat....

Still progress was made which included assembling 20 models and with enough time to build a cart for scatter terrain and even begin a Battalion HQ building though this may be stuck in a box for some time.

I do envy the people who have a full on love of a period at the moment I am floating around the hobby but I have discovered something strange. Previously I would happily mix manufacturers, especially back in the day-my 20mm Airfix fought alongside Irregular miniatures quite happily... now that makes me shudder! Accidentally I have become a wargaming snob!? Recently I painted some medieval from different manufacturers but they don't match at all... whats going on? Have we all been spoiled or has it always been this way for people?

Oh well I will leave with a pic of the front of my HQ which is as far as I have got... Keep blogging Guys you keep me sane.

Well we are into February which is usually a busy hobby time for myself but I am experiencing a bit of a lull this year... I have no idea why! The long winter nights are great for keeping warm around the painting desk or reading a book, maybe it is the mild winter to blame!?

Anyway in an effort to kickstart the years hobby projects I did buy a few boxes of Perry medieval and a stack of different sprues from ebay… as yet I just have a couple of units for Lion Rampant painted and based but I am not getting the urge to do much more with them yet. I am sure that we all have experienced a dip in our devotion to the hobby at some point?

What I did end up with was an unholy desk mess as all the clipping, gluing and parts storage seems to produce a dozen little storage boxes every time I use plastic figures!

The desk will be cleared ready for the arrival of yet more plastics in the form of Perry Sudan British which will serve in the North West Frontier. Another Dan Mersey book is also on the way and I have had some great help over on the Lead Adventure Forum to try and source a picture of a British cart...

Have fun guys and keep posting.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2488435269202129623.post-4445821341274677082019-12-22T07:13:00.001-08:002019-12-22T07:14:13.223-08:00Creating order from ebay chaosHi Chaps,

As Christmas approaches (seasons greetings all) I have been spending very thriftly and my painting fix has arrived via an ebay purchase. After watching a youtube video by Lukes Aps-found here...

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsmD5774MOQhjYBkXqu3Jdw

I was enthused enough to try and strip paint from plastic minis. Given that one can often buy figures for half price or less on fleabay it had to be worth a shot. So I purchased a bunch of Games Workshop elves and gave them a bath in methylated spirits-I do have a cleaner that probably helped to speed up the process which was painfully easy even for me... 20 minutes tops.

A little paint remained after scrubbing and another dip in the meths would have taken it off but I decided it would not be worth the time and effort. The figures that had been painted had a THICK coat of paint on that I was sure would never move... but it did...

Within 30 minutes of fiddling around I took this picture and 10 minutes later another picture with the undercoat on... despite two swords being broken the figures were very acceptable and ready to take paint.

Painting these figures is not really a pleasant experience for me as they are the small side of 28mm which is standard for Perry designed miniatures generally. I do prefer more heroic scale figures as this helps my old eyes but the bowmen are practically done and will work for any games system as Elves.

The 16 figures cost just under £8 including delivery, I am not sure how much they would be buying from Games Workshop but I expect probably double that. Two more "sets" have been purchased which total around 40 men of Rohan which will need a chemical bath to prepare them but for less than 50p per figure it is worth the 30 minutes of messing about.

I do recommend buying plastic figures if you are financially challenged (like myself) or if you just want to have a go at painting something different on the cheap it does make sense-the methylated spirits was £1.75 and can be used again and again-do wear gloves if you have any cuts on your fingers though as the meths can sting.

Have a great Christmas everyone.

Lukes Aps Arid Grasslands base ready is great for finishing bases, cheap and speedy delivery as well.

Well I can't complain. I have been lucky enough to have a spare few quid to buy 3 boxes of figures to make a proxy Imperial army for Warhammer and what happens? The day after the last box arrives Games Workshop reveal that they are bringing back the Old World as a separate game system!!

Makes me think that despite waiting a couple of years I was too hasty! So I will send Warlord Games Landsknechts over to my son in Barcelona and keep a box of Perry Mercenaries and Light cavalry in my stash... I had no intention of starting a Wars of the Roses army so if anyone has any GW Imperial Guard (the human looking guys right?) kicking about I would be up for a trade...

Anyway this is what I have been working on the last week or so...

To a certain extent all are a bit of a work in progress as they need a matt varnish and a few things added... the Dwarf flag needs some runes bases need completing. Games Workshop have really put a spanner in the works for what I had planned to do but despite throwing almost £60 at it I am not even cross that the project is now on hold.

So probably back to the Russians unless I can get hold of some Imperial Guard to mess around with. I don't play 40K and the starter box has no appeal for me so I have no idea what they will be used for. I really must see if I can take some pics of my figures as they are on my shelves...

My absence can be explained by the usual life hassles working a 6 day week usually over the weekends... we have all had it. Anyway I have still been painting but still not gaming. I had considered staring a new blog as I pretty much only bother with 28mm due to my aging eyes but thought I would keep updating this until I have worked out which platform to use.

I sincerely hope that you have all been keeping well, that you are happy and that you are gaming.

It is certainly difficult to update a blog without a computer! My old laptop developed the infuriating habit of randomly deleting files if you attempted to open them! If anyone knows the cure I would be very happy to hear from them as I still have the accursed item. The replacement item is a cheap and cheerful laptop from PC world-but it did come with Microsoft office which made its princely sum of £190 seem a little less eye watering.

Anyway despite the technological hitch I have still been clearing out and have firmly decided to play a few games this year. Bolt Action in 15MM is looking the favourite as I had ignored this scale until seeing the Battlefront and Plastic Soldier Company figures in the flesh. They are so effective and "armies" for this system become very affordable.

My recent obsession with 15MM has caused me to scratch build a couple of African buildings and accidentally purchase a large (for me) group of modern figures and the pdf for AK 47 which upon re reading does indeed deserve its cult status. I am keeping those away from the painting table for the moment, I want to savour painting those little guys and will watch some appropriate movies beforehand.

I do want to keep painting 28MM but I am undecided on what period... Black Powder looks like a great game to play I just need to resist the urge to buy 6MM as my collection is shrinking in size and not number.

Well with some great advice from Tinshed (Mark) from the Lead Adventure Forum my little artillery piece is now completed and ready to roll dice in anger. The build was actually pretty straight forward once the length of the barrel was worked out and wheels found.

A cereal packet provided the front shield and other iron plate bits of the gun and greenstuff helped create the breach. The crew are Plastic Soldier Company Russian plastics with new heads from Sloppy Jalopy and the Warlord German box set.

The same was done for the Infantry unit... so now almost for free I have a little Spanish Civil War/VBCW unit. More importantly if I ever need artillery for something I can be sure of scratch building if I can't afford to buy one.
The scratch building will continue as I have just purchased the Peter Pig Pdf for AK 47. I really do want to make some little terrain pieces for this game-15MM will be a massive change but I used to love this game back when I actually used to play!

Thanks for popping by Chaps you keep me going with your blogs, I love them all.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2488435269202129623.post-68778305228075442942019-04-04T04:08:00.002-07:002019-04-04T04:08:18.087-07:00A Very British Civil War 28MMHi Chaps,

Well its been the most productive day or two for months-years? During my clear out I came across some Plastic Soldier Company 28MM Russians still on the sprue. Out came the clippers and the bits box and a few hours later I had a company of Spanish Civil War types...

So with the 18 Pounder that I had begun earlier in the week it seemed logical to see what I could cobble together for the wonderfully British idea of a civil war in 1938. As it turns out I ordered a group of miners from Sally 4th (they arrived very quickly) and some odds and ends-drivers and a dispatch rider from Empress and Footsore...
Whilst passing my local hobby shop I rashly purchased a box of Warlord British Expeditionary Force troopswhich are now based and awaiting an undercoat. So, for the first time in a long time I have 30 or more metal figures awaiting delivery or paint, happy days indeed.
A second 18 Pounder will be started and if I can source more wheels more artillery will be constructed-it really is addictive and I just like the thought of them being home made. I believe that the Perry twins (are they knighted yet?) are going to release plastic figures for world war one which is the best war gaming news I will have ever heard.... the next best would be a re release of the Warhammer Great War set.
Keep gaming and blogging Guys I will update when a few militia units are paintedUnknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2488435269202129623.post-38529052031068555912019-03-31T06:22:00.001-07:002019-03-31T06:22:26.432-07:00New Painting StationHi Chaps,

Well after a brief intermission from painting I have had a good old fashioned clear out. In fact it was so good that I will shortly be left with just the one army (gasp) a Perry Wars of the Roses era bunch of figures based singly. It was literally amazing to find drawers full of old paints-enamels that had not been used nor ever to be used again...20MM plastics...bits of wood kept for a purpose long forgotten. Anyway the lot went in the bin.

During the clear out I decided to make a new paint rack. This had the potential to end up like Homers spice rack...

Anyway with just the jaw bone of an ass the rack was completed and now houses a mere 145 pots of paint plus a few sundries. First thing I googled last night was the paints on my wish list!

The new table top is a whopping 24"X33" which if I keep tidy should be large enough to paint on. There are three model cars on the shelves which should give a clue as to the next project which has been subject to meticulous military style planning. No expense has been spared on forming army lists and terrain needs... now it just has to get passed the chancellor ie. my better half.

How many times do you read a blog with the opening line similar to..."its been a long time since my last post"? It happens rather a lot and probably all for very similar reasons... life is just busy. Life has been too busy for myself but I am determined to make some time to update the blog and paint the occasional figure. I apologize for my absence it was almost beyond my control.

I have been painting over the last six months but only on the odd hour here and there. Despite having no time I have completed the Kill Team set from Games Workshop which is an excellent buy-really good value (who would have thought?). Here are a couple of the miners from that set.

As is normal I apologise for the picture quality, my experiments with lighting have led to naught but failure. I will be attempting a different technique shortly involving an i phone.

My Empire Army has grown in size and is now 4 units strong but I am resisting taking pictures for the moment until I have painted my two remaining units and I can provide an army showcase of sorts. The medieval/fantasy theme s still a favourite of mine and I cannot resist buying the odd Reaper miniature now and again because they are cheap and full of character...
Despite not having time to paint I purchased a couple of boxes of Perry Wars of the Roses infantry and Mercenaries. The problem I face is do I base them singly or on multiple bases? Tips would be welcome.

Just a quick update on my painting activities which have been severely curtailed by work and other life commitments. Due to such little time to paint but still containing the desire to game I decided to speed paint my Valiant Germans.

It has been an interesting experiment with so far three colours on the figures slapped on with a huge Humbrol size 6 brush... not pretty.

Next stage is a wash of nuln oil and then the flesh will be applied. The final stage will be re touching the uniform and equipment. Hopefully these guys will be useable and give me the starting point of having a British and German force. Already I have a little list of desired vehicles from Frontline and Grubby and of course... more figures!

Next week I will begin a few buildings in 20mm which is a scale that I have never had much success in previously but I do need some houses for the guys to shelter in and fight over.

Games Workshop have been producing models and games that are good value for the money. That right there is a shocker. For most of my adult gaming life I have rarely if ever purchased anything other than paint from them. This year I have bought two boxed sets and the latest one is by far one of the most interesting and complete wargames purchases that I have ever made.

The set cost £75 off Amazon Uk (it is sold out nearly everywhere) and is very good value for money. It comes with a quality gaming board, dice, figures, ruler and an awful lot of scenery and an excellent rulebook and a few manuals etc to help you start playing. Nothing else in miniature wargaming comes close to this.

To add to my enthusiasm for the set the rules are actually intriguing and seem very simple to use, not at all like the 40K mass battle ruleset which I find a confusing mess. Both "teams" are actually human looking-not a tin suit in sight which for me adds to the suspension of disbelief.

It will take a while to paint the figures and even the scenery which are now all assembled and undercoated. Pics will follow if I can actually paint something instead of rolling dice and enjoying myself. The wargaming gods have been against me though as I have worked two weeks straight though I intend a painting frenzy when I finally get a day off.

Keep blogging Chaps and if you get a chance to play this game do have a go.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2488435269202129623.post-79210745977008798472018-09-09T12:02:00.001-07:002018-09-09T12:02:55.051-07:00Games Workshop best figures in the world?Hi Chaps,

Its been busy at work but I have found time to paint a few figures in a hurried fashion in between life, work, decorating and the usual life hassles. Indeed I have painted some Skaven simply because I have never painted or owned them before...they were fun but I have no idea how they will slot into my fantasy world just yet.

As you can see they are not based yet, indeed these little guys were bought off ebay for a few pounds based on square bases but never painted, another few pounds and I was the proud owner of 50 round plastic bases, bless ebay.

Like everyone else in Britain (seemingly) I bought the Conquest magazine by Games Workshop and scored three paints, a brush and three figures costing £1.99. Absolute bargain-I bought four of the magazines. When I made one of the figures though it became clear that the Space Marines have been on steroids.

I wonder if this is now the size of all Space Marines or just for the Conquest game?

My plan of a free peoples army slogs along as fast as life allows and this is where I am at now. Two infantry units, a cannon and a grudge pony... my army will have Dwarves in it even amongst the men as in my world they get along just enough to do this.

I have to admit that I pretty much ignored Games Workshop for decades due to their pricing and strategy of making you buy codex books but since the release of Sigmar I have been impressed. The release of free rules means I don't mind buying a Generals handbook and the starter sets are actually very good value. I am still painting the first Sigmar set that I bought in January....

Today I went to spend £80 on the Kill Team starter set and..... it was not in stock. Trust me I rarely have £80 to spend on the hobby at any one time and today was going to be a treat. Balls. Oh well I may have to wait a few days to get hold of the starter set which at least does not contain Space Marines which are my least favourite figures they produce. Lets face it GW do produce the best figures in the world, followed so closely by the Perries who would get the title if only their figures were slightly stockier.

I actually did write to the old CEO of GW to voice my opinions and they have followed my advice to the letter (well I like to think so) so just incase they follow this blog please bring back the Bretonians and Empire, release a line of human looking 40K types and for the love of all that is holy adopt a Sigmar style set of rules for 40K which will be free......

So thanks for looking Chaps, sorry about the photo quality (again) and keep blogging it practically keeps me sane at work.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2488435269202129623.post-46127020051879660552018-08-21T02:39:00.000-07:002018-08-21T02:39:19.537-07:00Valiant Rapid Fire Brits Hi Chaps,

I can attest that being off work is amazing. Decorating is well under way and my British Infantry Battalion is now complete. I do not have a pic of it all together as everything here is upside down due to the decorating but my games table will be out shortly so a Battalion snap will be taken and posted. In the mean time here is the HQ company and a few of the men....

The dullness of the pics is a little disappointing but I am working on it. The figures were speed painted on a white undercoat, a wash of Agrax Earthshade and then highlighted. All the guys have a battalion patch and rank insignia, I suppose they could do with a lighter flesh highlight. From box to tabletop this full Battalion took 8 hours which for me is pretty quick. The Germans may well take a little longer.

The Germans are stuck together and based awaiting a black undercoat. Sadly the Plastic Soldier Company order has not arrived yet so no armoured support for either side is available. A trip to my local hobby shop later today may see some cheapo Zvezda reinforcements or even a few Hat figures purchased.

Next challenge will be a small skirmish.

Keep blogging Chaps.

Well the hot weather continues to put a halt to pretty much all of my painting but to be honest I am not getting much spare time at all at the minute. But.... I have made what for me is a major war gaming investment as a sort of treat to self.

I have purchased the starter deal from the Rapid Fire website and also a box of A9s and Pz38T's from the Plastic soldier company. Hopefully this stuff should arrive in time for my two weeks summer holiday which will be spent decorating, family time and hobby time.

Hopefully Rumford and Marsh won't send the lads around for using their picture! At under £30 this set is a bargain, link below.

https://www.valiantminiatures.com/product/valiant-miniatures-rapid-fire-starter-set/

I am hoping that I can make the Brits look like early war, likewise with the Germans and if not-well I play solo!

The Plastic Soldier company stuff has been good for me in the past so I am expecting the tanks to be fine. Pretty much for less than £80 inc postage I will have the basis for two decent armies which I can add to when the mood takes me.

I have found that armies of this period are never finished as there is always that extra vehicle needed or command group or field kitchen ... its a long list.

Keep blogging Chaps

I do trust that you are all well? It has been a busy month here, in fact it has gone really quickly and pay day is almost here again. The postman has been busy delivering decrepit old toys to me so that I can have an army that will cost so little but just a little extra in time.
An old cannon (all metal) and crew was had for less than a few beers off an auction site and the cannon has already been re painted. Whilst it will never win any trophies it is a passable piece of equipment for my new/old Empire army.
This pic was taken using a Canon (appropriate) 14.1 mega pixel camera and a very cheap £7 light box from that auction site again. The LED's are almost powerful enough alone but for my next batch of photo's I will help them along with a light pointing inside the box as well.
A unit of 10 muskets on their bases are almost complete and I am about to chose the colour scheme for the first unit of spears. The hot weather is awful for painting-no air con here in the UK-so I spend an hour or two in the evenings just looking at blogs for inspiration (when I can).
The Grudge Pony is just too good not to have in an fantasy army and will go well with a unit or two of dwarves fighting for the Empire.

Keep blogging guys, we are fighting the elements at the moment but it will soon be cooler and more painter friendly.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2488435269202129623.post-79954370548738790862018-07-19T05:43:00.001-07:002018-07-19T05:43:13.533-07:00A Campaign and Second hand figuresHi Chaps,

I have at last had a couple of days off together-rejoice! Also the postman has been kept busy delivering small packages from my ebay purchases. So far I have three units of Games Workshop Imperial infantry and a cannon but I have bids on several more. I do love the older (5th edition?) version of the Imperial army-the cavalry can still be ordered from Games Workshop.

This military style planning is hopefully going to culminate with my two weeks off work where I intend to laze around and paint figures during the day and drink German beer at night. (after I have decorated my little girls room).
Construction of some bases is also underway only another 20 to go for the infantry. Some of the figures will get a bath to remove the paint, I am especially fond of the master gunner who was a little bonus amongst the shooty types.
As for the setting for any games I am using local history and a mix of mischief. It must be 30 years since I last had a campaign diary and scribbling notes for a background has been very cathartic. How this ends up I have no idea but it does feel a bit DandD and a tad nerdy but already my games will have a reason and an impact on my characters.

Well I think this has been my longest break in many a year from the hobby but I do feel the urge to paint returning. I do rather think that this is a hobby of peaks and troughs, quite often I paint too much in too little a space of time and, over enthused but worn out I put the figures aside.

My latest break was due to a combination of a bereavement, the weather and work....always work. Still I do feel old interests stirring and last night I spent an hour or more looking at figures in my cabinet and feeling rather nostalgic.

I have every intention of resuming my painting when the weather cools-my painting desk will be moved and a design for a new paint rack to accommodate even more paint pots has been drawn. A few old but unpainted Games Workshop minis have been purchased from ebay and bids for even more have been placed. The remainder of this years painting will be focused on trying to learn some new techniques and improving my quality.

Games Workshop continue to impress me and I have bought their box of skulls! Not that I am such a fan that I buy every last item they produce but because I want to create a unit that looks like it has marched off the page of an old engraving. As a child the gruesome images from art books fascinated me and Games Workshop seemed to be taken up with the theme as well.

Well things certainly improved this afternoon on the war gaming front. I actually had 2 hours of my own time with no distractions. What a treat.

As I am fairly tight (approaching Yorkshireman level) I decided to use up a scrap of 5mm foam card. This small piece was the leftover from some past building project and was an irregular shape so I measured 20mm squares onto it and proceeded to cut them out.

by stacking four together and holding them together with PVA and a couple of brass tacks I have the size of a 28mm Hesco barrier. Using insect netting (about £3 a metre) I stuck this on four of the sides. Please note that this will give you sticky fingers and PVA drives me mad. Once this is dry I will put glue on the top and dip into sand.... a finished example can be seen on the left of the next pic.

This was a little project to make use of my time and I hope that I never have to make any more of these! I always paint scenery using the cheap tester pots from B and Q.

To complete the best day ever (well in a long time) two lots of figures arrived from two excellent companies. Both had a free sample and relevant figure in with them and both delivered their orders the day after I placed them. Well done Britannia and The Assault Group.

I am not sure what is happening to my pics but I will leave it as it is getting towards kick off of Liverpool vs Roma and I am sure you chaps will understand....

Today I also ordered some air con units from Crooked dice, if you read through this blog you will see I attempted to make some of these and failed. The Crooked dice ones look really useful and the 10 I ordered will not be enough! Please do have a look at them-they are cheap.

Next week I hope to order some more figures so that my forces are more or less complete before I begin painting. The US Marines will probably get the Somalia desert pattern clothing-does anyone know if this is correct for the Assault Groupo figures?

Have a good week Guys-I am off again at the weekend (first in ages) and I hope to have a few shops or Afghan compounds almost complete to show you.

Thanks for looking Guys your Blogs keep me going.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3
