The Assault Group and Project Z arrive.

Hi Chaps,

Today was a good day. My family are thriving, no bad news and my postie arrived carrying lots of goodies.

The Assault Group order arrived and contained a lot of well packed minis as well as a bonus mini which will find lots of use as an officer of some sort in a militia or poorly trained army unit. As always the quality of The Assault Group is just outstanding-Brian Ansell (?) I think was the sculptor of these and they remind me of Mark Copplestone who is also amazing...I am really pleased with this order and they will be the first to be painted.

As you can see the figures were quickly spruced up and based ready for a black undercoat. The close protection team look really nice with very dynamic poses as do the militia with pistols, excellent figures.

The next parcel contained Warlord Games "Project Z" which I admit I bought because it was cheap, indeed this is a massive bargain as you get the game and a box of figures of your choice for £30...free delivery!

My extra box had to be zombies but I do expect that I will take advantage of Warlords 3 for 2 offer on their boxes and invest in female survivors, modern infantry and yet more zombies. A small problem has occurred with this order as there were no rules (I downloaded these) and the cards were in French! The Game Sequence sheet was in English....anyway as I have no wish to employ my poor schoolboy French into my hobby time I have informed Warlord Games-I will update you as too what happens.

Surprisingly the rules for this game are very clever. I prefer traditional dice but having read through my downloaded, printed out set I think these are well worth a try and are an option to the Total AR:SE set that I have had for some time. I do hope that Warlord continue to support this game as the quality of the figures and rules are better than anything I have seen in this hobby before.

As is probably the case with most war gamers I can see my own interpretation of the rules being used already, as yet I have not watched the vids on youtube but for the cost of this game you cannot go wrong (unless you get French cards LOL).

The Zombie Project

Hi Chaps,

As I was having to pack these figures ready for the impending move I thought I would take some pictures of them together. I would hesitate to call this lot an army but it tops 100 figures and a good number of vehicles so maybe it translates to a small 28 mm traditional army?

The Zeds are all plastic and come from Warlord (much improved on the Wargames Factory models) and from Zombicide. They were fun to paint and I just painted the duplicate models in a different colour scheme to break things up.

The vehicles are pound shop buys or old Corgi's found on car boot sales, the Humvee is from Grubby tanks and was very cheap.

The survivors are Warlord, Airfix and the odd metal figure that seemed to fit in (Empress and Grubby I think). Again the Warlord figures are of much better quality than Wargames Factory. I decided to leave all the figure bases blank/black for this project.

Finally the scratch built houses and scatter terrain....much more are needed.

Still Alive and Kicking

Hi Chaps,

It has been a few weeks since my last post so I thought that I would give a quick update on what has happened. As usual the culprit is life. Busy with family and looking for a new home. That is about the top and bottom of it. Painting is usually infrequent for me in summer anyway as one has to take advantage of the weather here in England-it has been wet though!

No new purchases other than yet another box of zombies from the Zombicide range, strangely the cheapest place I have found these is on Amazon UK. I am waiting patiently for Z War One to be released just so I can have a nosey at more undead.

Finally I have been experimenting with printed paper to stick onto foam card and mdf....something that I have previously turned my nose up at but infact it looks OK. My terraced housing now takes 1/10th of the time to create and is passable....Winter of 79 in 28mm keeps popping into my head!!

World War Z...in 28MM

Hi Chaps,

Its been a busy few weeks but there has still been time to get some paint onto some very reasonably priced plastic figures. The Zombicide figures are particularly nice and can be bought cheaply from Amazon UK. The cars are some old Corgi die casts bought from car boot sales, I have three patrol cars from Pound land awaiting attention-never has gaming been so cheap!

Next up will be a board and a game or two with my son, this has been a quick project with around 30 Zombies and eight policemen painted. It was also a good excuse to buy some Copplestone Assault Troops and as ever they arrived the next day-amazing service!

Hi Chaps,

Well my dreams of 6MM glory have been put on hold for this month as my son was very underwhelmed at the thought of gaming with such miniature miniatures!

So instead its back to what any normal 12 year old would want to game...can you guess what it is before you see the third photo?

I am not a prepper but I love reading about the subject and I do acknowledge that it makes sense to at least have some information on the subject.

Well this photo should have given you a clue? I already have a large collection of military types for this game but this lot arrived today, happy times and something very different!

Plastic figures in 28MM have in my opinion revolutionised the war games hobby. Practically anything is possible and who knows what will be available in a few years time? After reading all the prepping books and watching the films I should be able to ride out the first six months of the Apocalypse in comfort and if I am the last man alive not much will change as I game solo!
