Hi Chaps,
I have had the best weekend in months and it has consisted of painting miniatures, watching youtube about painting miniatures and beer. Perfect. Almost.
Taking pictures of my minis is starting to drive me nuts. Even using my wifes iPhone with two lamps still produces pants pics.. maybe I am too far away? Anyway if anyone has any tips or can recommend a midi camera to purchase I am all beers..... sorry ears.
Here is what was completed this weekend, 10 chainrasp (guys in bedsheets) 4 mymourn banshees and a handful of zombies from coolminornot.
Looking good, just out of curiosity which iPhone are you using? I have started using a 7 which is working pretty well for me. Normally I would use a DSLR, but it such a faff getting everything set up just to take a couple of shots.
ReplyDeleteThe wifes phone is an iPhone 6. My son is due to get the iPhone 10 which apparently has a much better camera. I take pics from about 30cm away, should I be closer Micheal?
DeleteWith the DSLR I would close down the aperture to give a greater depth of field, allowing everything to be in focus and then just crop accordingly. Similarly I am trying to avoid zooming in with the iPhone and just cropping the shot, 30cm sounds about right. Using the photographs at actually size though.
DeleteThanks Michael, your pics do have an excellent quality to them. I will try your tips and experiment a bit more. Taking pictures of tiny miniatures is a very frustrating part of the hobby for me.
