I have seen the future! (Its 28mm and plastic!)

Hi All,

I do hope that the hangovers have been forgotten and plans are underway for new armies? Last year I purchased the "Black Powder" ruleset and they read OK and others seem to like them. Being a solo gamer I have to paint both sides (and more importantly pay for) so any new undertaking is a big deal. Also this year is going to be a big one court wise...in the high court in a few months so I am unsure really as too how much gaming time I will have.

Having said all that I am VERY impressed with all the plastic 28mm figures now available. Also having done a little maths the 28mm are actually the same price or even cheaper than 15mm metal! So the future is 28mm and plastic!

  2. If you like Napoleonic or ACW i would recommend Perry's stuff. I bought my first box recently and the detail is stunning!

For other periods (WWII, Zulu war, ECW) i think Warlord do a brilliant job there, good sculpts and very reasonable prices.

Hope all goes well for you in this new year, and i look forward to seeing some new stuff

  5. I will be interested in seeing how you play the game solo.

I have been tinkering around with some ideas on solo BP myself.

I went 'minimalistic' with my 15mm armies so I can field a division or larger on my playing area.

  8. It was Warlord's plastic Romans that led to me digging my paints out again after 12 years; I completely agree - plastic is the future ;)

  9. I have seen Warlords Romans painted by a chap who has a blog "Ferrous Lands" and these are amazing. Happy to see you painting again...I think this has happened to a lot of lapsed gamers!

  10. Yup, pretty much convinced that 28mm plastic is the future for me too. Now if the makers can just be persuaded not to keep making the same figures as the competition...
