Painting Everything!

Hi Chaps,

This week I had intended to paint up some IDF 20mm but they are still in transit as is the Grubby technical....so I had a rumage and found some 5th edition Bretonnian archers. A quick visit to my local hobby store and bought some Deus Vult Teutonic infantry guessing that they would match.

I think that they will mix in OK ? Anyway I have another couple of units to paint up and it would seem that an accidental project may have started, happily these guys will work for Lion/Dragon Rampant, Age of Sigmar and almost anything else medieval, (though I need to find 2 more archers on ebay to have a full unit!).

Please do excuse my desk which will have the tidying of a lifetime after this post but I really have been scratching around for something to paint. I did find 3 old Space Marines that someone had painted a very thick black (with what I have no idea) so I decided to paint a test figure. He turned out OK and any future old Marines that accidentally come my way will be painted in this scheme.

So that was my week, a no show from the postie but it turned out pretty productive anyway. The next big project will have to be a display cabinet to plop my little armies into as my bookcase is now full of zombies and 30K figures.....200 painted this year so far.

Have a good weekend Chaps and keep blogging.

I am off to tidy my desk before the RSM (read wife) sees it.

20MM Buildings from Cheap Foam.

Hi Chaps,

Due to a run on the Solo Wargamers pound I have had to improvise in order to get any hobby time in this week. My 28MM zombie project is done and sat proudly in my cabinet and so it was time to look around for a replacement period........until I checked my bank balance and then a rethink was in order!

20MM certainly helps the financially challenged to overcome the costs involved in the hobby-if you have the eyesight it is a great scale. So-after checking I could still see these little guys- I ordered a box of Orion Israeli infantry and a few Grubby tanks packs and began to wait.

Whilst waiting I gathered some extruded styrene and a few pizza bases, tacks, cheap childs white glue and other odds and ends found around the house. An internet search of Pakistani city pictures gave me a clue as too what to build and it was Blue Peter time!

These buildings are far from finished as they need air con units (does anyone make these?) and a lot of signs, dangling wires and more rubbish! I have a longer row of even slummier buildings planned but for now I will take a break....who knows the figures may arrive?

Keep blogging Guys I need your ideas!

Grubby Humvee and Warlord Plastics

Hi Chaps,

Glorious English weather at last! Arrived just as I had set aside some painting time...undeterred I pressed on fortified by 4 cold cans of beer. Life is good!

The Humvee (painted under the influence) is from Grubby tanks who always provide an excellent service and with this order a free figure. The freebie looked like Andy from the remake of Dawn of the Dead and is a welcome addition to my growing number of survivors. Always good value this Humvee and gunner was £8.50 which is great for a 28MM model.

The Rangers were painted before beer was had and they seem to have turned out OK. Warlord sell the box for £15 which is a little steep for 8 plastic figures but there are lots of weapons left over...

At almost 70 Zeds and a lot of survivors and wrecked cars I can now consider this project a done thing. It has been fun and my shelves are full so in true gamer style I was looking at the next project.

"Living on the Frontline" a war of 79 game is available from Partisan Press....I also saw a sprue for a 1/72 scale Chieftain! Grubby maybe of use again as he produces FV432's....happy days!

Still Alive and Kicking

Hi Chaps,

It has been a few weeks since my last post so I thought that I would give a quick update on what has happened. As usual the culprit is life. Busy with family and looking for a new home. That is about the top and bottom of it. Painting is usually infrequent for me in summer anyway as one has to take advantage of the weather here in England-it has been wet though!

No new purchases other than yet another box of zombies from the Zombicide range, strangely the cheapest place I have found these is on Amazon UK. I am waiting patiently for Z War One to be released just so I can have a nosey at more undead.

Finally I have been experimenting with printed paper to stick onto foam card and mdf....something that I have previously turned my nose up at but infact it looks OK. My terraced housing now takes 1/10th of the time to create and is passable....Winter of 79 in 28mm keeps popping into my head!!

If you have read this far thank you, my next update will contain photo's, over 70 Zombies and counting....
