Hi,
its been a week or two since my last post, life has got a habit of interrupting my hobby! Anyway the first Burgundians have been painted and based, only 6 I am afraid but the horde of pike men await me all undercoated ready...
I will commit to the Victorian era soon I just do not know which rulest? Empire of the Dead or the soon to be released Osprey set....? Any thoughts chaps? Oh and the other basic requirement of Victorian buildings, I have a few masters but I am undecided....I may go back to foam card as I have an idea for window frames....this is a consuming hobby!
Thanks for looking.
Very nice, Carl ;) must admit, time is a precious and scarce thing; for buildings, it has to be the excellent range of card examples by Dave Graffam.
ReplyDelete...and Two Hour Wargames 'Larger than Life' pulp ruleset ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Monty, I have made a note and I will have a look at both, the idea of a four foot square board full of 28mm buildings is a nightmare in both time and money!
ReplyDeleteI too am starting to dabble in either Victoriana or Pulp gaming.
ReplyDeleteGood choice Francis, with the price of figures its a cheap way to go and indeed it seems like fun!
ReplyDeleteEotD is a very nice ruleset can't comment on Osprey stuff, Have read not so good things about there fantasy themed rulesets only time will tell.
ReplyDeleteIf you've played games like Necromunda is similar in idea. It has different mechanics and initiative is rolled for every turn D10's are the main dice. There is a kickstarter at the moment which is adding a huge variety of things to the game. The background is really good as well.
have a read on my blog theres some miniatures nad battle reports as well as info on the kickstarter.

Nice work! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Chaps, Simon I will have a look at your blog...trying to gather as much information on the "Empire" game as possible....thanks again.
ReplyDeleteCarl, if the "On a budget" bit still applies, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives. I'm rather partial to Flying Lead for skirmishes, and GASLIGHT for larger battles (though GASLIGHT would work well for skirmishes with a little bit of tweaking). Chaos in Carpathia looks like a good alternative if you definitely want to do Victorian Horror/Monster Hunting. EOD does look very nice, but that £30 for a big chunky hardback could always have been spent on figures & terrain instead.
