Impulse buy

Hi Chaps,

I have just purchased this box of infantry and despite painting them twice before I had the urge to paint them (better this time) again. The basing may be a problem...what does Hail Ceasar use? Would 3 or 4 figures on a 40mm square base be OK? As I will be doing this thing solo is it the same as black powder with 3 bases being around average unit size?

Thanks for any help or ideas you have regarding the basing problem....I am off to do some sticking and cutting.

  1. We use 4 figures on a 40 x 40 for our Napoleonics for Black powder it works and look fine

  2. Thanks Andrew, I think that I will use this basing convention and build the figures so that they will fit onto this.

  4. Average size unit for 2 deep infantry in Hail Caesar is given as 16-20 models (they always use number of models not number of bases) so 4 to 5 bases of 4.

  5. Thanks Legatus...mt units may be a tad smaller as I it will be a challenge to produce even one army at the rate I paint!

  6. Indeed. I have a box of these, have made up a dozen but painted...none! in a way I find the sheer number if figures in these plastics boxes so off putting I never even start them!

  7. You are so right about that! I stayed my hand with the mounted box simply because of that feeling....wargaming is a very strange hobby.
